is Professor Emeritus of creative writing and literature at West Virginia University, and is the winner of the Flannery O'Connor Award for Short Fiction for her collection, The Purchase of Order.

is the author of two novels (HarperCollins) and two books of short stories (HarperCollins and University of Pittsburgh, re-issued by Carnegie Mellon. ) Her stories and essays have appeared in Witness, Glimmer Train, Story, and
is co-publisher of Unbridled Books. Previously he was a founder of BlueHen Books, an imprint of Putnam, and general editor of fiction at MacMurray & Beck where he helped develop
directed the Kenyon Review Novel Workshop from its inception in 2012 to 2016. She is still the associate director of Kenyon Review Writers' Workshop held each June.
